TEACHABLE MOMENTS

Posted on January 15, 2015 at 2:14pm 5 Comments

If you are up 30+ points here are some helpful rules to properly close out a game with dignity.

Rule #1: Remove starters
Rule #2: DO NOT PRESS!
Rule #3: DO NOT TRAP!
Rule #4: Play a 2-3 zone.
Rule #5: No fast breaks
Rule #6: Jump shots only!

If you still win by 50+ it's time to move to another division or it's time for your opponent to move down.

Appreciate the comment. As I explained to Mr. Anthony Gibbs at the time. The social.media post was an accidental public posting that was intended to be a private message to one of my college players who was a Westinghouse and thusly psal alum. It was a verbatim recital of a bet we had on our game. After realizing my egregious posting, I immediately took it down. If you check my resume as a college recruiter I have always recruited high level psal talent (Westinghouse, Lincoln, South Shore, FDR, Midwood, among others ). Have always appreciated and respected psal basketball. Most importantly, I love to coach and help student athletes improve on and off the court.

Hi coach my name is Derrick Irving, I am a 6'1 combo guard Class of 2016. I go to St. John's Prep in Astoria, Queens, but I live in Harlem. I am a very hard worker and I am ready to put forth effort to win. I averaged 17 ppg and 5 apg this year and we lost in the championship game. I am a very skilled player and a coach on the floor. I can score in multiple ways and set up my teammates as well. I am a lock down defender. I am contacting you to let you know that if you ever know of an opportunity to play for a team, in a tournament, a workout/clinic, or a high school, prep school, or college that is looking for players please let me know. You can contact me at 347-932-7280 or email me at derrickstudent@gmail.com. Thank you for your time and have a nice day
